Crafted Canvas are proud as punch of our own Bronte Hall, who has recently become only the second women to grace the MUTA board, as well as becoming its youngest ever executive board member. MUTA has changed over the years, reflecting the shifting landscape of British business. In its early years it was made up almost exclusively of textile traders, importers or end manufacturers. Now, as an indication of the booming service industry, MUTA's board is heavily stacked with owners of marquee hire companies – a category which Bronte herself falls into.
MUTA are sure to benefit from Bronte's work ethic, passion for the business and strong sense of what is needed to progress and Crafted Canvas are looking forward to monitoring developments with great interest.
MUTA was originally known as 'Made Up Textiles Association' – and is the UK's only trade association focussed on marquees, tents and temporary structures. As well as continuing its original purpose of bringing together the industry it also plays an active role in representing the industry within the BSI and the CEN in Europe, as well as the AGOTS committee of the Institute of Structural Engineers. In the world of marquees and tipis it simply doesn't get more important.
As mentioned, Bronte is the second woman member of the board and joins Jenna Ackerly of Events Under Canvas. She is looking forward to working alongside Jenna as well as other leading industry names such as Johnny Cooper of Coopers Marquees and Lee Dalton of Roder UK. In fact, the current crop of MUTA board members are of such pedigree that we cannot help but be excited for what the future may bring. Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.
